TEDxLisboa: one ticket, one tree

Three years ago we decided that every TEDxLisbon was going to help preserve a tree in the Amazon rainforest. It wasn't enough to say it, it had to be visible and lived. There we launched the world's first collective experience that made a preservation action linked to an event transparent and clear.

At check-in, each person activates their tree and brings the TEDxLisboa Forest to life. From that moment on, the action becomes an immersive experience that unites the audience around the same project. From Lisbon, the globe rotates to the coordinates of the EcoArts in the Amazon and dive into the 700 trees set aside, one for each participant in the event.

Satellite monitoring and individual activation

The platform doesn't just show a point on the map. Each tree has an identified species, a unique number, coordinates and a complete profile that anyone can open. Monitoring includes biodiversity, carbon, climate, fire and soil data, among others. It's proof, not a promise.

The campaign began in 2023, was repeated in 2025 and continues in 2026. For transparency, for us and for the future. Using QR codes, each participant can track the tree they have helped to preserve, guaranteeing credibility in the carbon offsetting process. It's simple, it's tangible, it's real.

ESG Marketing actions can be exciting and educational. On the other hand, undemonstrated actions devalue and discredit everything linked to sustainability. If it's real, show it. If it's on the public side, demand to see it. Then get the word out.

This action is the result of a partnership between Ecoarts, Forest Watch and TEDxLisboa, in a pioneering initiative on a global scale.
